eats, shoots, and weaves

eats, shoots, and weaves is my current series of work in progress. Of the fifteen to twenty pieces planned for this series, Fourfathers and Pop Art 1 are the only ones that have been woven.

The series is a collection of words and images—rendered as text and textile—that tells about an American girl growing up with a Chinese face. It is about eating the bitterness of not belonging. It is about marrying a Euro-American and becoming an artist despite a father’s highest hopes and deepest fears. The work shoots at shadows, saying one thing, but meaning another, weaving one image, but reflecting many.
